Purbeck Coast – A look back at 2022 ……..
It’s been a very positive year for Purbeck Coast attracting several new presenters, offering an even more diverse range of topics and music genres- you can see most of them on the Team page.
We interviewed local councillors, artists, writers, horticulturists, health care professionals, actors, RNLI volunteers, to name but a few.
Several Outreach cafes took place at Stoborough Village Hall as well as regular monthly events at Herston Village Hall. Michelle Langthorne, our studio manager was supported by different presenters who took the opportunity to chat with listeners as well as gather requests.
We gave support to many events during the year, including the Platinum Jubilee, two Dog shows hosted by Margaret Green Animal Rescue, the Swanage Carnival, Swanage RNLI week and Harman’s Cross Fete. We loved getting out and about in the community and look forward to attending many more next year.
In the autumn the Community Radio Awards saw Andrew Birt shortlisted in the Arts and Creative Radio of the Year category, with a short story written by Charles Dickens called the “Signalman”.
Many of our presenters do not necessarily have a background in radio or media so gladly welcomed the opportunity for some hands-on training from Nik Goodman who ran a session on Presenting skills.
The year finished in style with the Purbeck Coast’s first big fund-raising event, a “Night to Remember” at the Mowlem show bar which proved to be a great success and a launchpad for future events.
