Is That Jazz? is a new one hour music programme on Purbeck Coast Radio on Sunday evenings from 9.00-10.00 pm. Hosted by myself, Peter Young,
it aims to offer a positive and inclusive musical soundtrack for these troubled times. Embracing gospel, deep soul, rock steady, 20th century dance and
roots music from all over the world. That’s the plan, but is that jazz?
Originally from Boscombe I have worked in community and visual arts projects in East London for most of my working life.
Before then, in the early 1980’s I was co-organiser of Charivari, an itinerant live music and dance club that put on cultural events in and around
central Bournemouth, from its regular Thursday night haunt at The Cabaret Club in Holdenhurst Road to The Pavilion Ballroom and beyond.
But that was a while back. 40 years in fact.
I never thought when moving to Swanage a couple of years ago that there would be a chance to interact with the public by sharing music once again.
